In Reception we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, we believe children learn best through their play and through exploring first-hand experiences. A typical day in Reception is based on a combination of adult led activities and child-initiated learning.

We have daily adult focussed sessions which include phonics, maths, and literacy. Your child will have access to a wide range of opportunities and challenges to develop their fine motor and gross motor skills.

During child-initiated learning children are given the time, resources, and adult support to construct their own learning. Play enables children to rehearse and practise their newly acquired knowledge, which is always wonderful to observe.

Our children are given opportunities to explore their own interests and this informs the fun activities we provide. Some of our topics have been, Harry Potter, Pirates, People who Help us and Queens & Castles.
